Im fresh with ideas.
If you were ever curious as to what my voice sounds like when paired with other voices, check out the podcast I did with the boys over at Twxxd. We had a nice little discussion about the meaning of life and hardcore drugs. Also the damaging effect of social media on the Hippocampus’ ability to do brain stuff. Or maybe not, you should probably just listen to find out.
Below is the direct link to our conversation, but you should also check out twxxd.com for more of the Brothers Oliver and their delicate hilarities.
So yesterday was kind of a cool day, O2E’s one year anniversary to be exact, and I felt it necessary to write up a little posty-doo about it. If I had told Past Matt that in 2013 I will have written and drawn almost 200 webcomics and put them up on a website of my own creation, and that some people will actually READ it outside of my friends and family, I’m sure I would have called Future Matt a liar to my face. I wouldn’t put it past me. (Man, verb tense in time travel scenarios is tricky) So I guess I just want to thank everyone that has supported the comic in their own way, whether it be with friendly comments, spreading the word, or just smiling at the silly things I draw. YOU. You make it awesome.
Oh, and a huge thanks to my friends Alex and Zack that supported me in the beginning (also the only two recurring male characters you ever really see in the comic, besides myself), and to my girlfriend Allison, who has personally scanned every single webcomic you have ever read of mine into a computer. Without her, surely O2E would be a hollow husk of a comic, blithering like a madman on some street corner in that part of Brooklyn you’ve only been to once because a friend you kinda like forced you to go with her to meet some guy she met on craigslist as back up in case he turns out to be the scary kind of crazy and not the artistic kind.

Just got back from my little trippy doo yesterday, all safe and sound. To sum up the entire country of Vietnam accurately and from an “objective“ Western perspective, I’ll just say this; it was completely and utterly insane to the awesome-est degree. There, now you don’t have to go there yourself. Your welcome. No, but seriously, it was a wild ride. It literally blew my mind. I had a blastoise. Also, I got really bad sunburn. So thats…. cool… I guess. *vigorously applies aloe
In other news, I’ll be running my first guest comic segment starting next week. Got a great lineup of really great artists, so make sure to stay tuned. Should last about 2 weeks. So exciting! *dance moves
Two days from now, I will do something that has never been done before. Well, at least for me. I’ve never done it. What is it you ask?! Well, in a couple days I will be embarking on a journey TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD! Specifically Vietnam, and for the next two weeks. Fear not, though, for I will still have timely updates. Probably even more timely than usual because I will have my comics updating automatically. Since I won’t really have too much time to monitor the site, ensure that posts are going up correctly, et cetera, et cetera, … Memo bis punitor delicatum! (Wonka Willy quote, oops scratch that, reverse it) I apologize in advance for any mishaps.
When I get back though, I know that I will probably be exhausted, and definitely in need of a post-vacation vacation. With that in mind, I would like to invite anyone to submit fan art or guest comics, which would go up at around the end of November for about a week. Just enough time for me to recuperate. Now I’ve never done anything like this before in the history of the comic, and I’m not even really sure that I have the fan base to pull it off, but I would be very pleased (elated even) if I received even ONE submission. I would love you long time.
Oh and if you’d like to submit something, please email me at observetoexist@gmail.com. Hope to hear from ya!
And with that, I bid thee adieu.
~M
